Cycling Around Mount Fuji

Image
Note that this photo is a posed shot. You are supposed to cycling anti-clockwise around the lake! Haha If you are deciding between taking the train to Kawaguchiko or driving, you can check out the car rental prices at   https://www.nipponrentacar.co.jp/english/user-guide/reservations.html   and train prices at   http://www.hyperdia.com/ It depends on whether you’re staying overnight at Kawaguchiko and the number of people travelling. Remember to add toll fees of about ¥4200 one way. We decided to rent a car but forgot about the toll fees so it ended up being more expensive. I’d say if you’re staying for one night and there are at least 3 of you, renting a car is a good option. If there are two of you and you want more freedom to move around (such as going to neighbouring places like Oshino Hakkai, Chureito Pagoda, Yamanakako etc) it is also better to rent a car. You should also be warned that traffic is congested upon leaving and arriving at Tokyo. We parked our car at ou...

Furano 富良野 and Biei 美瑛 Kanno Farm かんのファーム Furanoya curry 富良野屋カレー (Furanoya karee) Tomita Melon House とみたメロンハウス We visited Kanno Farm かんのファーム which is a small hill of beautiful coloured flowers quite near our pension. This place is a lot less touristy than Farm Tomita and the slope made photos much nicer. As Aoike was not accessible, the lady owner recommended us another blue pond which was not bad. It's not as surreal as Aoike but well, it was along the way to the Furanoya Curry so why not stop by? =) For lunch, we had soup curry in Furano which the lady owner of Oyado Ichirin recommended. The shop is called Furanoya curry 富良野屋カレー (Furanoya karee). We ordered the soft chicken leg with bone 柔らかく骨付けチッキン  (yawarakaku hone tsuke chikkin) spicyness level 3 (for me) and 5 (for Chris). The soup curry is similar in taste to Japanese curry but more watery and was packed with vegetables such as cabbage, pumpkin, eggplant, capsicum, potatoes and a whole super tender chicken leg (with bone...

Furano 富良野 Popura Farm ぽぷらファーム Farm Tomita ファームとみた Accommodation: Oyado Ichirin お宿一輪 After a short transit in Haneda airport, we arrived at Shin-Chitose to pick up our rental car from Nippon Rental Car which we booked online. At the counter in the airport, we were given a coupon with a number which we were to show the shuttle bus driver. The shuttle bus took us to the car rental center to complete the rental procedure and we collected our car to start our 7-day self drive across Hokkaido. Our route was: Shin-Chitose Domestic Airport (pick up car) - Furano, Biei (2 nights) - Asahidake (1 night)  - (stop by at Hokkaido Ice Pavilion nearby) Sounkyo (1 night) - Akanko (1 night) - (stop by Lake Mashu) Shiretoko (2 nights) - Memanbetsu Domestic Airport (return car) - Shin-Chitose Domestic Airport -train to Sapporo (3 nights) In retrospect, the following is possible and would have been cheaper since you pick up and return the car at the same place: Shin-Chitose Domestic Airport train Sapp...
